Portal

Portal turns a website into a members' area: people sign in, see their own pages and records, and can pay or book. Use it for client portals, staff areas or small web apps.

How to open it

Choose Portal in the Apps group of the nav rail, then pick the website at the top right.

What you can do here

  1. Set the website type. Under Website and sign-up, choose Kind of website: Website, Portal or Web App. Decide who can join with New members: Open (anyone), Approval (sign-ups wait for you) or Invite only (you add people).
  2. Choose the members' area. Set After sign-in go to, and whether members' pages look like an App layout or the Website pages.
  3. Add roles. Under Roles, choose + Add role and say what each is for.
  4. Add members. Choose Invite someone, enter an Email and Name, and choose Add member. Send them the link shown to set their password. The member list shows who is Waiting, Active or Switched off.
  5. Share your records. Under data sources choose + New data source or Add a ready one…. For each, decide Who can read and Which records they see (everyone, or only their own), and what members can do.
  6. Take payments. Under Online payments, add your Razorpay keys. Secrets are stored encrypted and never shown again.
  7. Let members install the app. Under Installable app, set the app name, colour and icon.
  8. Check before you launch. Preview as shows the website as a visitor, a role or one member would see it, with nothing changeable. The audit list shows what happened and when, and the safety check lists findings to fix.

Note

A website is not a portal until its kind is set to Portal in Settings.

Where to go next

Menus can show items only to members; Publish takes it live.
