How the admin is laid out
Everything you manage sits in one menu down the left side, called the nav rail. This page shows what each group is for, so you always know where to go.
The nav rail
The rail is split into groups, in the order you usually make a website:
| Group | Screens | Use it to |
|---|---|---|
| (top) | Home | Start a new website or jump back in. |
| Build | Projects, Library, Theme, Menus | Make pages, pick sections, set colours and fonts, build navigation. |
| Content | Posts, Comments, Collections, Forms, Media | Write and collect the things your pages show. |
| Apps | Plugins, Portal | Switch on extras such as a shop, chat or a members' area. |
| Go live | Publish, SEO, Popups, Analytics | Put the site online, get found, run campaigns and see the traffic. |
At the bottom of the rail are Docs, AI Settings and your account name. The small button beside your name folds the rail to icons only.
Jump anywhere with ⌘K
Press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows) to open the quick finder. Type the name of a screen and press Enter. Some screens also have a number shortcut shown in the finder, so you can reach them without the mouse.
Light and dark
The admin has a light and a dark look. Switch from the rail; your choice is remembered in that browser. Dark mode changes the admin only. Your website, and the preview of it, always show the colours you chose in Theme.
Screens that take over the window
The page builder, and the form, post and menu editors, give you the whole window. The rail steps aside and the top bar has a back button instead. Use it to return to the list you came from.
Note
A screen asks for "a website" at the top when you have more than one. Pick the right one first, because lists such as Posts, Forms and SEO show one website at a time unless you choose All my websites.
